We at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations hereby send our heart-felt and deepest condolences to the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other affected nations, most especially the families, friends and loved ones of the departed souls who lost their lives in the tragic incident which occurred on Friday September 12, 2014.

It is our prayer that the Almighty God will console you and give you the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses. We also pray that God’s presence in your hearts and lives would more than supply their absence. We need no more to make us strong than to have Christ’s presence with our spirits. He is with us by His grace, which is the good will of God towards us, enlightening and enlivening us, sufficient to strengthen and comfort us, to support our soul and cheer up our spirit in all affliction and distress.

Shobizz Blog - Martyrs of Faith

We at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations believe that when the believer dies, he is delivered out of trouble. The believer’s conflict has come to an end; he is done forever with the trouble, sin and temptation of this world and goes into glory. He at last rests in the arms of his Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, death to believers is not a period – it is only a comma. They do not cease to be but are only removed from one world to another. Death to a believer, therefore, is his release from the imprisonment of this world and his departure to the enjoyment of another world. Those who are born from above long to be there.

The highway to Heaven starts from this side of death and the entrance is very easy to find because the Bible says whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Those who lost their lives in the incident died not in vain; they died martyrs of the Kingdom of God. As the Psalmist reflects, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints. (Psalm 116:15)

While we grieve over the loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that we are one by Christ’s love. What can separate us from the love of Christ? “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

This tragic event will not and must not be allowed to adversely affect or destroy the good relationship which has hitherto existed between us and our dear friends in nations across the world. On our part, we shall continue to pray for our countries and their citizens, particularly the relations of the affected ones for nothing makes us love a person as much as praying for them. There is no doubt that the rescue operation, medical treatment for survivors and other incidental matters came at a huge expense but this is immaterial compared to the lives affected by this tragic incident.

We hereby express our profound gratitude to his Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan, the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan and Governor Babatunde Fashola for their highly esteemed support during these trying times. We also thank the security agencies, rescue agencies as well as our friends and partners worldwide for their prompt support, concern and prayers.

May these moments prompt us to live each day as if it were our last for when we are prepared to die, we are prepared to live.

Our prayer for you remains the same – that your faith in Christ Jesus should not fail. Though there may be reason to be troubled, Jesus said there are greater reasons not to be (John 16:33). Let us remember God’s everlasting promise to comfort all who mourn, provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3). Trouble may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). To all, we greet you, Good morning.

The Words of Christ:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 5:3-10)

STATEMENT FROM THE SYNAGOGUE
IN RESPECT OF THE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2014 INCIDENT

SCOAN - Shobizz Blog

The pain of one is the pain of all. It is indeed a sad and painful moment for the families and friends who have lost loved ones. It is equally so for us in The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (The SCOAN), under the leadership of Prophet T.B. Joshua.

On Friday, September 12, 2014, at about 12:44pm, one of the buildings on The SCOAN property unexpectedly collapsed, tragically resulting in death and injury. Nigerians, South Africans and citizens of other nations were affected. This incident was preceded by the appearance of a strange aircraft which flew very low over the building, four times and then disappeared.

Since the day of this incident, The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, its members and partners, have worked in collaboration with the Nigerian, South African and other nations’ authorities to ensure that survivors are rescued, attended to with the best medical treatment, cared for in the most humane and hospitable manner and reunited with their families, while those who passed on – martyrs of the Kingdom of God – are retrieved, identified and treated respectfully.

Amongst those we are working hand-in-hand with, are: The Federal Government of Nigeria, the Government of the Republic of South Africa, Lagos State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Ministry of Health – doctors and nurses, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), the Red Cross, the Nigeria Police Force and various Non-governmental and humanitarian organisations and construction and engineering corporations.

It is very sad that inaccurate reports are coming from some quarters that we are not cooperating with the rescue teams and other agencies in collating information and providing assistance on the incident. Contrary to this, we want to categorically state that the church has provided assistance when and where required and continues to do so – good Christians are good citizens.
We emphasize our commitment to cooperate with all relevant authorities in establishing the cause of the collapse of the building.

The church views this tragedy as part of an attack on The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations and in particular, Prophet T.B. Joshua. In due course, God will reveal the perpetrators of this unfortunate tragedy.
We wish to express our gratitude to all who continue to work tirelessly, show their solidarity and share their condolences in this grievous time, particularly all Government and non-Governmental bodies mentioned above, Diplomatic Missions, National and International media houses, society groups, traditional rulers, all concerned citizens and the residents of our local community, Ikotun-Egbe. We equally appreciate all members and partners of The SCOAN and Emmanuel TV, along with Christians and clergy worldwide for their prayers and support.
SCOAN - Shobizz Blog

To all those who lost family members and loved ones, please accept our heart-felt commiserations. No one knows by the present sign or situation what the future holds. We must therefore live each day as if it were our last and leave tomorrow’s trouble for the One who bore our troubles on the cross. We thank God for the martyrs and we pray for the family members and loved ones left behind.

Akinwunmi Ambode to improve Judcial Sector

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has said his administration will continue to improve on the achievements in the judicial sector and ensure that judges, magistrates and the courts in the state work in a conducive atmosphere. The governor, who spoke on Friday at the 2015/2016 Legal Year Dinner at the Nigeria Law School, Lagos, reiterated the important role the judiciary plays as the last hope of the common man. He said the Lagos State Judiciary had been the pioneer of judicial sector reforms in the country from 1999, when Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state. He said his predecessor in office, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, also followed suit by initiating and implementing far reaching reforms which went a long way to improve on the justice delivery system.Ambode added, “It was these reforms that gave birth to the Office of Public Defender, Citizens Mediation Centre, Public Advisory Centre, the Multi-Door Court House System, which offers an alternative and effective dispute resolution mechanism; the construction of more courts as well as the appointment of more magistrates and judges. ADVERTISEMENT “These initiatives have expanded the frontier of justice delivery, which has deepened its relevance as the last hope of the common man.“I am committed to ensuring that this administration continues with these reforms. We will work with the judiciary to move our justice sector to a higher level. The reform process is not a finished business, it is a work in progress.”He alluded to the fact that a recent World Bank ranking of countries on the basis of ease of doing business, rated Nigeria low, noting that one of the parameters considered was the ease with which disputes arising from business transactions were resolved.Ambode explained that the report was an indication that the nation’s desire to build a globally competitive economy that would attract foreign investors, could not be achieved without a vibrant judiciary.“It is therefore imperative that as we address the issue of infrastructural deficiency to ease the process and reduce cost of doing business, the issues of rule of law and timely dispensation of justice must also be given priority,” he said.Responding to an appeal made by the Chief Judge of Lagos, Justice Funmilayo Atilade, in her welcome address, the governor promised to address the issues raised accordingly.Justice Atilade expressed concerns that the Lagos State Judiciary was still financially subservient to the Ministry of Justice, saying it was most undesirable as the arrangement clearly negates relevant laws and constitutional provisions. She appealed to the governor to assist in effecting the return of Judiciary Capital Vote as required by Law and in the spirit of separation of powers as applied to the other arms of government.“To a very large extent, as we demonstrate our implicit confidence in our able governor to right the wrongs of the past, help reposition and propel the State Judiciary to desired heights, we must sincerely express our gratitude to His Excellency for all the support and kind understanding.“Truly, he has within the short period of his administration demonstrated strong interest and concern in the growth of the Judiciary and in the welfare of judicial officers, magistrates and all personnel the of the Lagos State Judiciary,” she added.
